Network for City School Parents

Anyone who lives in Rochester knows about the woes of the city school system. At superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard's state of the schools presentation last week, it was estimated that over a thousand parents and teachers turned up outside to protest. And that took some dedication and fire, given that it was bitterly cold outside.

Making decisions around schools can be overwhelming for a city parent right now. I have a friend who attended the city schools expo recently and shared her findings with me so I could post them here. Regardless of your opinions and your personal choices for your own kids, the parents who are involved in your particular school make a huge difference. I wanted to share a parent resource we recently discovered that provides a great support network, parent-run forum and a ton of useful information for parents who are considering the city schools or are currently city school parents:
