Italian grill featuring a wood-burning exhibition kitchen with signature dishes including Chicken Bryan, Pollo Rosa Maria, and classic pasta dishes. Offers carside carryout and catering.

Overview

Carrabba's Italian Grill at 3340 West Henrietta Road in Henrietta, NY, operated for approximately 19 years before permanently closing in late October 2025. The restaurant was part of the national Carrabba's chain, which was founded in 1986 in Houston, Texas, by Johnny Carrabba and his uncle Damian Mandola. The Henrietta location was the only Carrabba's in the greater Rochester market. Its closure was part of a broader consolidation by parent company Bloomin' Brands, which shut down underperforming locations across several of its restaurant chains, including Outback Steakhouse and Bonefish Grill.

What They Offer

During its years of operation, the Henrietta Carrabba's featured a wood-burning exhibition kitchen where cooks prepared Italian-American dishes in view of diners. The menu centered on items rooted in Sicilian family recipes passed down through the Carrabba and Mandola families, including:

  • Chicken Bryan, a grilled chicken breast topped with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and a basil lemon-butter sauce
  • Pollo Rosa Maria, a chicken dish stuffed with fontina cheese and prosciutto
  • Wood-fire grilled steaks and chops
  • House-made pasta dishes and scratch-prepared sauces

The restaurant also offered gluten-free soup, entree, and dessert options, as well as carside carryout and catering services for group events.

Known For

The Henrietta location built a nearly two-decade presence along one of Rochester's busiest commercial corridors. Its open exhibition kitchen format — where guests could watch their meals being prepared over a wood-burning grill — distinguished it from many other Italian-American chain restaurants in the area. The restaurant's menu drew from recipes originally developed by Grace Mandola and her daughter Rose, giving the chain's dishes a family-cookbook origin story that dated back to Sicilian immigrants who settled in Bryan, Texas, in the early 1900s.

Location & Neighborhood

The restaurant sat at 3340 West Henrietta Road in the town of Henrietta, just south of Rochester. This stretch of West Henrietta Road is a heavily trafficked commercial strip near Marketplace Mall, lined with national retailers and chain restaurants. The location offered public lot parking. As of late 2025, this Carrabba's is permanently closed, and no replacement tenant has been announced. Diners seeking similar Italian-American fare in the Henrietta corridor may need to explore independent local options along the West Henrietta Road or East Henrietta Road corridors.
