Cure
French-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar in the Public Market District featuring seasonal, locally sourced farm cuisine and house-made charcuterie.
Overview
Cure is a French-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar that opened in June 2012 inside Rochester's Public Market. Co-founded by Chef Dan Martello and Chuck Cerankosky — both formerly of Restaurant Good Luck — the establishment occupies stall #50, right next door to Flour City Bread Co. The concept pairs seasonal, locally sourced farm cuisine with a dedicated craft cocktail program, all served in an intimate setting that draws on the energy of the surrounding market.
What They Offer
The dinner menu rotates with the seasons, taking advantage of the Public Market vendors just outside the front door. A core strength is the house charcuterie program, which includes items cured in-house such as pâtés, terrines, fresh sausages, and cured meats like prosciutto, bresaola, and guanciale. Beyond charcuterie, the kitchen turns out French-leaning dishes — past offerings have included duck rillette, foie gras–bone marrow toasts, beef tartare, and roasted half-duck with grilled radicchio. The wine list carries a French focus, and the bar side features craft cocktails built with seasonal ingredients. Cure also offers Sunday brunch and a late-night menu on weekends.
- House-cured charcuterie boards with whole-grain mustard and pickled vegetables
- Seasonally rotating dinner entrées with local produce
- Craft cocktails using fresh, seasonal fruit and specialty spirits
- Sunday brunch service
Known For
Cure has operated as one of Rochester's few French-accented restaurants for over a decade, anchored by its in-house charcuterie program — a rarity in the region. The location inside the Public Market gives the kitchen direct access to local growers and producers, which shapes a menu that changes frequently. The cocktail program, developed by co-owner Chuck Cerankosky, is built around the same seasonal philosophy applied to the food.
Location & Neighborhood
Cure sits at 50 Public Market in Rochester's Marketview Heights neighborhood, accessible through either the Union Street or Railroad Street gates of the Rochester Public Market complex. The market itself is a long-standing civic hub that hosts vendors selling produce, meat, baked goods, and prepared foods — particularly busy on market days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays). Flour City Bread Co. is immediately adjacent. The restaurant offers sidewalk-level entry with wheelchair-accessible dining and restrooms. Reservations are suggested and can be made through Tock or by calling (585) 563-7941. Cure is open Wednesday through Sunday, with dinner service beginning at 5 p.m.
