Flower City Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Flower City Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement retail outlet operated by Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity, headquartered at 755 Culver Road in Rochester, NY. The organization was founded in 1984 and has since built or renovated more than 250 homes across Monroe, Ontario, and Wayne counties. The first ReStore opened at the Rochester Public Market in 2006, and the offices moved to the Culver Road location in 2008. Revenue generated from ReStore sales goes directly toward funding affordable homeownership initiatives for local families.

The ReStore sells new and gently used home improvement goods at 50 to 70 percent off typical retail prices. Inventory includes:

• Furniture such as sofas, dining sets, bookcases, dressers, and patio furniture
• Appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and stoves
• Building materials, home accessories, and housewares

The store also operates as a donation center, accepting household items in clean, working condition. Donated appliances must be under ten years old and fully functional. Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity runs three ReStore locations across the region, including stores in Henrietta and Canandaigua, giving shoppers and donors multiple drop-off options.

The ReStore has built a following among budget-conscious homeowners, DIY renovators, and environmentally minded shoppers looking to keep usable materials out of landfills. During the 2014–15 period alone, the organization's ReStore operations diverted an estimated 275 to 360 tons of building and home improvement materials from local waste streams. Every purchase supports Habitat for Humanity's mission of building affordable housing in the greater Rochester area, making the store a place where thrift shopping doubles as community investment.

The 755 Culver Road location sits in Rochester's east side, not far from Cobb's Hill Park and the surrounding Beechwood neighborhood. The area scores well for walkability, with grocery stores, restaurants, and local shops within easy reach along Culver Road. A Wegmans is located nearby to the west, and the neighborhood offers access to green space at Washington Grove, an old-growth urban forest with walking trails just up the road.
