Genesee Brew House

Genesee Brew House is a pub-style restaurant, pilot brewery, and museum located at 25 Cataract St in Rochester, NY, on the campus of the Genesee Brewing Company — New York State's oldest brewery, established in 1878. The Brew House opened to the public on September 8, 2012, following a $3.9 million renovation of a 9,200-square-foot building that previously served as a packaging center on the original brewery campus. The facility sits along the Genesee River in the High Falls district, just steps from Rochester's 96-foot High Falls waterfall.

The Brew House operates across multiple levels, each with a distinct function:

• First floor: A free brewery museum with interactive exhibits and historical artifacts tracing Genesee's brewing history, a working pilot brewery where small-batch beers are produced on-site, and a gift shop stocked with Genesee merchandise.
• Second floor: A full-service pub-style restaurant with indoor table seating and an outdoor patio. The menu leans on pub fare — burgers, wings, sandwiches including Beef on Weck, Bavarian pretzels, and products from Zweigle's, a long-established Rochester meat company. Dietary accommodations include vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
• Rooftop deck: Open seasonally during warmer months, with a bar and panoramic views of High Falls and the downtown Rochester skyline.

The bar pours 16 taps featuring Genesee's flagship and pilot-batch beers. The venue also hosts weekly trivia nights on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM and is available for private events with a banquet capacity of up to 100 guests.

The Brew House occupies a unique position as both a working pilot brewery and a public-facing museum on one of the oldest continually operating brewery campuses in the United States. Its rooftop deck provides one of the few elevated, publicly accessible vantage points for viewing High Falls — a draw that has helped the location attract over 400,000 visitors annually. The on-site pilot brewery produces small-batch runs not available at other Genesee locations.

The Brew House sits in Rochester's High Falls district, a compact neighborhood centered on the Genesee River gorge just north of downtown.
