Overview
Irondequoit Beer Company is a craft brewery and taproom at 765 Titus Ave in the town of Irondequoit, just north of Rochester, NY. It holds the distinction of being Irondequoit's first brewery, having opened in 2019 inside a restored barn that once belonged to the Vercruysse family farm. The brewery is part of the I-Square mixed-use development, a project led by developers Mike and Wendy Nolan. Head Brewer Nate Kester, an Irondequoit native and high school English teacher by day, started his brewing path over a decade ago with a home brewing kit and now runs a five-barrel brewing system on site.
What They Offer
The taproom pours ten house-brewed beers at a time, with styles that have included milkshake IPA, double IPA, rye pale ale, porter, almond milk stout, Belgian-style dark ale, saison, Dortmunder export lager, and peach blonde ale. Wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks round out the beverage list. Beer to go is available in 32-oz crowlers or four-packs.
On the food side, the kitchen serves a menu that features wings, poutine, pizza, and pretzels, with a dedicated Sunday brunch menu. The kitchen closes one hour before the taproom. Hours run Wednesday through Thursday from 3–10 PM, Friday and Saturday from noon–10 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM–7 PM; the brewery is closed Monday and Tuesday.
Known For
Irondequoit Beer Company is known as the neighborhood's first and only brewery, operating out of a converted agricultural barn with visible historical character. The brewing equipment carries a playful naming scheme — four five-barrel fermenters are named after hobbits (Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin), while three 10-barrel tanks honor other Tolkien characters (Aragorn, Gandalf, and Legolas), with the bright tank dubbed Gimli. The taproom also features repurposed whiskey barrels from Iron Smoke Distillery. A private loft space is available for event rentals, and the brewery runs a Mug Club membership program.
Location & Neighborhood
The brewery sits within the I-Square development on Titus Avenue in Irondequoit, sharing the complex with neighbors like The Reserve Wine Bar and The Imaginarium, a net-zero emission education center. A large dog-friendly outdoor patio offers fire pits, heaters, shade structures, and awnings for year-round use — seating is first-come, first-served with no reservations. Irondequoit is a suburban town bordering Rochester to the north, and the Titus Avenue corridor provides easy access from surrounding neighborhoods.
