Lucky's
Neighborhood restaurant and bar in North Winton Village serving New American cuisine.
Overview
Lucky's is a neighborhood restaurant and bar at 628 Winton Rd N in Rochester's North Winton Village. It opened on February 19, 2020, in the building that previously housed the Wintonaire, which closed in October 2018. The 56-seat space is a joint venture from co-owners Mike Calabrese, Chuck Cerankosky, and Dan Martello — the same team behind Restaurant Good Luck and the Jackrabbit Club event space. Conceived as a more casual, everyday counterpart to Good Luck, Lucky's focuses on New American comfort food at accessible price points.
What They Offer
The dinner menu at Lucky's features a compact, rotating selection of appetizers, handhelds, and entrées with price points ranging from roughly $16 to $42 for mains. Dishes lean toward elevated comfort food — past offerings have included pub burgers with aged cheddar, shepherd's pie made with lamb and chickpeas, Atlantic cod fish fry, and curried chicken wings. The kitchen also accommodates vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diners. A separate bar menu is available earlier in the evening, and the cocktail program rounds out the drink list alongside beer and wine. Reservations can be made through Tock, and takeout is offered via Lucky's To-Go.
- Dinner hours: Sunday–Thursday 5–9 PM, Friday–Saturday 5–10 PM
- Bar menu: Monday–Thursday 4–11 PM, Friday–Sunday 3–11 PM
Known For
Lucky's is known for bringing a polished-but-approachable dining concept to North Winton Village, a neighborhood that had few sit-down dinner options when it opened. Chef Dan Martello leads the kitchen alongside chefs Jay Carlson and Kyle Shafer, both of whom came from the ownership group's other Rochester restaurants. The building itself retains original details — including a wood bar and tin ceiling — that were preserved during the renovation, giving the dining room a mix of vintage character and contemporary design.
Location & Neighborhood
Situated on Winton Road North near Browncroft Boulevard and across from the Winton Road branch of the Rochester Public Library, Lucky's sits in the heart of North Winton Village. The neighborhood is a walkable commercial stretch on Rochester's east side with a mix of small shops and eateries. Both bar seating and outdoor dining are available, and the restaurant's compact size makes reservations a good idea, particularly on weekends.
