MMB + CO

MMB + CO is a certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in downtown Rochester, NY. The firm traces its roots to 1975, when Richard Mengel, James Barr, and the late Irwin Metzger founded the practice in Rochester. Over the following decades the firm grew through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, including the 2014 addition of Barone, Siciliano & Co. CPAs P.C. in Canandaigua. On January 1, 2023, a merger with Albany-area firm Marvin and Company took effect, and the combined organization adopted the MMB + CO name. Today the firm employs approximately 250 people across five New York offices in Rochester, Canandaigua, Elmira, Latham, and Queensbury, with roughly 125 staff based in the Rochester headquarters.

MMB + CO is one of the longer-established CPA practices in the Rochester area, marking its 50th anniversary in 2025. The 2023 merger with Marvin and Company expanded the firm's geographic reach into the Capital Region and Adirondack corridor while maintaining local ownership. Women now make up 54 percent of the firm's leadership team, a milestone reached after the addition of seven new partners — the largest partner class in the firm's history.

The Rochester office occupies Suite 1200 of Five Star Bank Plaza at 100 Chestnut Street in the Central Business District, a 21-story Class-A office tower near Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park and the Strong National Museum of Play. The building offers garage and surface parking and sits directly across from the RTS suburban commuter bus stop, with convenient access to I-490 and the Inner Loop. Downtown Rochester's dining, cultural venues, and government offices are all within walking distance.
