Progressive Barbershop

Progressive Barbershop is a traditional barber shop at 1002 S Clinton Ave in Rochester, NY, operating under the same name since 1918. Founded on Joseph Avenue by Russian immigrant brothers, the shop later moved to 1122 Monroe Avenue before settling into its current South Clinton Avenue location. Patti Parker purchased the business from Nick Valentino in 1974 and continues to run the shop today. With more than a century of continuous operation under its original name, Progressive holds the distinction of being Rochester's oldest continuously named barber shop.

The shop operates on a walk-in basis, so no appointment is needed. Hours are Monday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The shop is closed on Sundays.

Progressive Barbershop is known for its old-school approach to barbering, maintaining a straightforward, no-frills atmosphere that has drawn customers for over a hundred years. The shop has kept its identity as a neighborhood gathering spot across three different Rochester locations and multiple generations of ownership.
