The Classic Kitchen & Cocktails

The Classic Kitchen & Cocktails is a New American bistro located at 263 Park Avenue in Rochester, NY's Park Avenue neighborhood. The restaurant opened in 2022 and serves dinner five evenings a week, with hours running from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, until 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 9:00 p.m. on Sundays. It is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Classic also operates a sister establishment, ROAM Cafe.

The dinner menu balances familiar comfort food with more polished plates. Small plates include sesame-crusted ahi tuna tataki, blue crab cakes with citrus remoulade, fresh burrata with roasted cherry tomatoes, and a shareable Classic Board of meats, cheeses, and pickled vegetables. Entrée options range from a classic pot roast with braised vegetables and mashed potatoes to an 8 oz Wagyu flat iron steak, seared sea scallops over wild rice, and bucatini Bolognese with fresh pasta. Several dishes accommodate gluten-free diets, including house-made gnocchi in sun-dried tomato citrus cream and chicken primavera on gluten-free fettuccine.

The cocktail program pairs with the food menu, and a full bar is available. Desserts rotate through options like crème brûlée, flourless chocolate torte, and a brownie sundae. The restaurant also hosts private events on-site.

The Classic is known for bringing an upscale-but-approachable dinner format to the Park Avenue corridor — a menu that mixes comfort staples like poutine with cheese curds and a bacon-jam burger alongside dishes like coconut curry stir fry and bone-in pork chop with cassoulet.
