grand_central_holiday_fair_2014_15200938434The beloved Grand Central Terminal Holiday Fair is returning to Vanderbilt Hall for nearly six weeks, starting November 14th. The longest-running indoor holiday market features 40 vendors who have been specially chosen to highlight their arts and crafts.

One of those vendors is Rochester-based artist and designer Andrea Geer. Along with five other new vendors, Geer will join returning favorites to sell their wares at the popular holiday shopping destination. Making her debut in this year’s fair, Greer will be showcasing her unique line of clothing and accessories.

Geer creates original paintings which are then digitally printed onto fabric and leather. Her playful and distinctive pieces have earned her much acclaim and several awards. She was also featured in a documentary called Tailor Made about the origin’s of Rochester’s garment industry. Geer appears at art festivals throughout the year to showcase her talent. In addition, her clothing can be found in the carefully curated gift shop at the Memorial Art Gallery, which was recently expanded in order to accommodate a larger apparel selection.

A fixture in Rochester’s fashion scene, Geer’s work was recently showcased in this year’s Fashion Week of Rochester. The grand finale runway show featured Geer’s hand-loomed neck pieces paired with her newest range of leather skirts.

Considering that Christmastime marks a pivotal time of year for leather retailers — it’s when these sellers reach about 25% of their total yearly earnings — Geer’s presence at the Holiday Fair in New York City may be a real coup for the designer. The event at Grand Central Station has featured unique and local craftsmanship since 1993. Organizers have recently focused their efforts on presenting vendors who sell handmade and American-made products. The use of socially conscious business practices and locally sourced materials has become increasingly important to consumers who attend the fair.

Among the products offered will be art, home goods, bath and body products, toys, clothing, accessories, and holiday-themed items and gifts. The Holiday Fair runs through December 24th.
