Eastman Kodak and packaging specialists NY Label and Box Works have agreed to collaborate on the development of anti-counterfeit technology.
Kodak’s Traceless technology will now be added to products that are printed using NY Label’s flexographic printing process. This new technology combination will enable NY Label’s printing customers to be protected from diversion and counterfeiting.
According to Securing Industry, Traceless technology can be added to any packaging and can only be detected using an Eastman Kodak reader.
Kodak had a 90% market share in 1976 in terms of photographic sales, and now they are excited about this newfound partnership.
“NY Label is a great partner for Kodak because of their experience and strong process knowledge,” Richard Gammons, Product Manager for Kodak Brand Protection Solutions, said of the collaboration. “The two companies have equipped NY Label with the ability to offer multiple brand protection features.”
What They Think reports that this partnership comes at a great time due to the increase in global product diversion and counterfeiting. This technology will help companies combat counterfeiters with invisible serialization and offer ultra-covert features for protection.
Mike Masotti, Director of Product Innovation at NY Label, believes that their previous security systems worked well, but more advanced technology was needed to combat these security threats.
“The Kodak solution is an important improvement over what we had the capability to provide to our customers,” Masotti said. “What we previously offered was very robust and effective, but with the additional software, hardware and ink technologies from Kodak, we can now say to our customers that we can truly offer the most ‘bullet-proof’ brand protection label in the industry.”
Kodak’s scientists, chemists, and engineers from their Brand Protection team worked with the entire NY Label team to achieve these breakthrough results.
“The first major project that was printed utilizing the Traceless AD technology, for a global luxury cosmetic company, was produced without any additional downtime,” said Craig Streibel, senior press operator for NY Label. “The Traceless AD ink performed even better than the generic security ink that he has been running for three plus years.”
